About

Katie is a writer, maker and actor from Waterford. She trained at The Lir Academy, Ireland’s National Academy of Dramatic Art. Her main focus is to form roles representing societal eccentricities, often through use of distinct physicality and movement. Over the past ten years, she has worked across many modes of creation — theatre, film, site-specific, musical, and more (Irish Times Theatre Award Nominee, BroadwayWorld Award Nominee, Green Room Award Winner). Over the past four years her artistic output has evolved, becoming lead artist across projects as both writer and producer.

Through a Waterford Council Playwright & Producer Grant and Arts Council Project Award, her debut play ‘How To Fall Flat On Your Face’ premiered at Garter Lane Arts Centre on International Women’s Day (2022), and returned to Dublin’s Project Arts Centre (2023).

In 2023, Katie’s radio play ‘HURL’ was produced by RTÉ Radio 1 (PJ O’Connor
Award Winner), and she took residency in ‘A Little Room’ Waterford’s Theatre
Development Centre writing her new play ‘The Far Away Sun’.

In 2024, Katie is supported by an Arts Council Bursary to develop her movement practice through the lens of neuroscience. And recently shot a short movement film ‘TOCK’, through support of the South East Technology University Arena.

She plays with a strong sense of place in her scripts, along with striking imagery and dark humour.
